From Agriculture to Automation: A Passion for Feeding the World
Tergel’s journey into the food industry began with a deep-rooted passion for feeding a growing global population. After earning her degree in Agricultural & Biological Engineering from the University of Illinois, she embarked on a career in food and beverage, where she has spent the past seven years pushing the boundaries of technology in dairy manufacturing.
“I feel incredibly fortunate to have landed in the dairy industry,” she shares. “It’s a dynamic, rewarding space that keeps me constantly challenged.”
Transforming the Cheese Industry with AI & Digital Solutions
As a Commercial Portfolio Manager at Tetra Pak, Tergel plays a pivotal role in advancing automation and digital solutions for large-scale cheese manufacturers. Her work focuses on ensuring technology-driven efficiency, helping companies streamline processes, improve productivity, and adapt to the evolving food landscape.
One of her proudest achievements?
Pioneering an artificial intelligence solution for the cheese industry—a major innovation for a field that has historically relied on manual processes.
But her impact doesn’t stop there. Tergel is also deeply involved in precision fermentation, exploring how downstream processing equipment can support this emerging sector. Her work is helping to define the next generation of dairy processing technologies, making production smarter and more sustainable.
A Passion for Learning, Growth, and Community
For Tergel, no two days are the same, and that’s exactly how she likes it.
“My role is incredibly diverse, and I thrive on the constant learning and tangible impact I get to make,” she says.
When she’s not leading industry innovations, Tergel stays active with tennis, workouts, and travel. She also finds immense value in the Females in Food community, which has provided her with inspiration, connection, and empowerment.
“FIF has been a refreshing source of motivation, connecting me with amazing women across the industry,” she says. “I’m proud to have introduced more women from Tetra Pak to this network, and the events and panel discussions are always a highlight for me.”
